Oceanful of Stars
Okay, so maybe the ocean wasn't full of stars, and it was actually a starFISH, but check this out. We were down in Port Aransas, Texas, around mid-February, and we'd found quite a few pieces of starfish on the beach. Then we found a whole one. The thing is--this one was ALIVE. I've never seen a "feral starfish" before, and I was shocked at how quickly it could bury itself in the sand. Anyway, it seems that the "winter" months here in Texas are the best for possibly having your own starfish encounter (I found a whole one--deceased--last January). Also, in case you were wondering, there's virtually no seaweed on the beach in the winter either (it can get pretty disgusting in the summertime). Y'all come on down--we'll leave the bug-zapper on for you. Oh, wait a minute. If you come in the winter, you may not need it!

Starfish are one creature I know very little about yet they are so beautiful.
